School Based Health Centers (SBHC) are free-standing medical centers located in six high and middle schools in Stamford and Kids in Crisis in Greenwich. Staffed by licensed nurse practitioners, clinical social workers, dental professionals and a health educator, SBHC provide on-site confidential physical, dental and mental health services to students enrolled in Stamford Public Schools.

Todos los servicios son confidenciales, son proporcionado sin tener en cuenta si usted tiene un médico de cabecera/asistencia médica o seguro particlar.

In order to utilize the clinics, students must have a consent form on file signed by a parent or guardian.

SBHC services include:

  • Physical Examinations
  • Immunizations
  • Nutritional Guidance
  • Preventive Health Education Programs
  • Treatment of Minor Illness and Injuries
  • Referrals to Specialist and Medical Follow Up
  • Assessment of Skin Problems
  • Asthma Education and Follow Up
  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Laboratory Tests (Strep, TB, Anemia, etc.)

Services are provided to all SBHC-enrolled students regardless of their ability to pay. You do not need insurance to access services; however when coverage exists SBHC is required to bill these insurance companies. The SBHC will not bill parents/guardians or students for any co-payments required by insurance; will not seek payment from you if you have not met your insurance deductible; and will not seek direct payment from you if the claim submitted for services is denied by the insurance company as these are covered by existing grants.

SBHC are open to students attending a Stamford Public School in which a clinic is located.  Click here to learn about our sites. Services are provided regardless of income or health care coverage. Our dental clinic at Westhill High School is open to all students in Stamford Public Schools.
