Distance Learning Guide

Strawberry Hill's Guide to Distance Learning

April 20, 2020

Dear Families,

Stamford Public Schools recognizes the importance of providing quality learning opportunities to students during this extended COVID-19 school closure. On Monday, March 16th, we launched Phase I Distance Learning opportunities to our students. As we enter an extended time period of closure, we will be implementing new protocols for Phase II Distance Teaching and Learning beginning Monday, April 20, 2020.

Stamford Public Schools and Strawberry Hill have developed a Distance Learning Guide (DLG) to offer guidelines and protocols around Distance Learning.  During this unprecedented global event we understand the challenges that our families may experience. Our priorities are safety, health, social emotional well-being, and of course, educational access.

In Phase II over a two week period, Strawberry Hill will roll-out a schedule with dedicated time slots to check-in and work with students.  During this time teachers can clarify instructions on assignments, facilitate discussions, and/or strengthen connections with students. We will describe this component further in this document.  Furthermore, the schedule will be an important component in scheduling service hours for students needing additional supports (Special Ed, SRBI, ELL). For example, students requiring special education services will have additional structure and guidelines as part of an individualized plan.  Overall, we will continue to offer all students choice in a variety of learning opportunities through Flex-Fridays.

We are here to support the needs of students and families by establishing connections and advancing student learning.  We are grateful for your continued support and engagement. Please know that we miss you dearly, and are hopeful for better times ahead.
