Administration

Meet our Administrative Team

Mr. Scott Clayton - Principal/8th Grade AdministratorMr. Clayton

Welcome to Scofield Magnet Middle School.  Scofield is a truly a special place and I couldn’t be more proud to be the principal.  A little about me:

I graduated from Western CT State University with a BA in History.  I was three credits short of having a minor in music performance.  Maybe someday I’ll take that piano class.  After earning my BA, I entered graduate school at the University of Bridgeport and earned a Masters in Secondary Education.  Following graduate school I enlisted into the CT Army National Guard and served for nearly eight years.  I began my teaching career at Rippowam Magnet Middle School, which later evolved into Scofield.  I am so thankful to have been hired by the Magnet Middle founding Principal, Dr. Karley Meltzer.  Along the way I earned my 6th Year Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University.  Shortly thereafter I was appointed Dean of Students and then Assistant Principal of Newtown High School in Sandy Hook, CT.  After many years in Newtown, the opportunity presented itself at Scofield and I was so thankful to be given the opportunity to lead the best school in the city.  I returned to school a few years ago and earned my Superintendent’s License from Central CT State University.  I hope to complete my Doctorate in the coming years.  My wife and I have been Blessed with four wonderful children.  On any given weekend you can find us at soccer, lacrosse, dance/show rehearsals, etc.  In whatever free time I have, I enjoy competing in triathlons.  I have done numerous sprint and Olympic distance, six 70.3 half-iron distances and one full 140.6 Ironman distance.  My goal is to compete in another 140.6 race in the summer of 2018.

Life has some interesting twists and turns, but when we work to our fullest potential, we become who we are meant to be.  Early in my career, with only an Associate’s Degree, I entered the corporate world at General Electric and then Allied Chemical, where I grew from a secretary to the supervisor of an audio-visual department.  My future advancements were bleak because I didn’t possess a four-year college degree.  But at this point, my life was busy with two children to raise.   Several years passed by and I offered to be a parent volunteer at my children’s elementary school.   It was then that my direction and focus changed and I headed into the world of education.   I certainly didn’t take the normal route to my present career as an assistant principal, but all the challenge was worth it.

After one year as a parent volunteer in the Stamford Public Schools, I was offered a para educator position.  The longer I worked, the more involved I became with ‘life in education’ and I realized how much it was a part of who I was.    Administrators and teachers with whom I worked were extremely supportive, and after five years I decided to go to college to become a teacher.   It was the best thing I’ve ever done -- but the most difficult because I was in the midst raising two daughters.

I took as many of the core courses as I could find at UCONN and then transferred to Sacred Heart University’s educational program.  There I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education for grades Pre-K – 8.   I was immediately hired as a middle school science teacher.

My first two years of teaching began at TOR and shortly after that I was assigned to Westover while working toward my Master’s Degree in Teaching at Sacred Heart.    After a short period of time, my vision broadened and I continued my educational path towards a Sixth-Year Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Bridgeport.  I returned to TOR as the Administrative Intern, beginning my administrative career.  I have been fortunate to work on both the elementary and middle school levels for teaching and administration throughout the SPS System, as I’ve gained a wealth of experience!

My tenure as an assistant principal at Scofield Magnet has been filled with responsibility, challenge, learning and fun!  I am proud to be a part of the Scofield community and in my opinion,   it doesn’t get better than this!  Scofield is the BEST place to be.  My path to education hasn’t been straight, but I can attest to the statement:  It’s not how we start, it’s how we finish!

Dr. Angela Tsiropoulos - Administrative Intern/6th Grade Administrator

I am enthusiastic to serve my first year at Scofield Middle School as an Administrative Intern. I have been an educator for eleven years and eight of those years in the Stamford Public School District. I have earned a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport and following graduate school, I obtained a 6th year Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the Fairfield University.  Just recently in 2019, I completed a doctoral study and earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Capella.

I am a mom to three young children, which can be rewarding and challenging at the same time. Most of my evenings consist of dance, soccer, and swimming and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I believe in doing the work that I love and inspiring others along the way. There is nothing greater than a life well loved. My goal in life is to wake up each day with a purpose and to leave a lasting remnant.

My first experience in this school was in the school year of 2016-2017, when Mr. Clayton served as my supervisor for my Doctoral Internship. In this role, it was fulfilling to see the valuable qualities and the positive impact the staff, teachers, and administration had on the students. After a few years, an opportunity presented itself and I was determined to be part of such a remarkable school. I have immense enthusiasm for and pride in our school and our community, and I look forward to a great year ahead!
