This program is designed to immerse students in English acquisition with the support of Spanish. The students are both Spanish speaking students and new arrivals to the country. The focus is on acculturation to American schooling, developing English, and preparing students to enter appropriate grade level mainstream classrooms.

This program addresses the needs of students identified as elementary bilingual students. In this program, students will receive Spanish support to help access the mainstream curriculum, either through a push-in or pull-out model.

Middle School Bilingual Content Area Courses

 

 

Turn of River

The content area courses in this transitional bilingual program are taught by bilingual certified teachers in Math, Social studies and Science.  Students also participate in electives and ESL classes.

High School Bilingual Content Area Courses

Westhill High School (Spanish)

The curriculum for bilingual health, bilingual math, bilingual science and bilingual social studies courses mirrors the course study in the regular education program with instruction delivered in the native language and English. ESL support is provided through courses at three different levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

 

High School Native Language SupportStamford High School (Haitian-Creole)

This program addresses the needs of students identified as high school Haitian-Creole speaking  bilingual students. In this program, students will receive support to help access the mainstream curriculum, either through a push-in or pull-out model.
