Stamford Public Schools (SPS) Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero and the Stamford Board of Education (BOE) named Ryan Fealey as director of Finance, at the February 25, 2020, Regular Board Meeting, effective March 16, 2020. Fealey has served as the vice president, Finance, at Taurus Alternative Strategies, LLC, in White Plains, N.Y., for the past 11 years.
As director of Finance, Fealey will be responsible for the management of all the financial resources of the district, including planning, budgeting and forecasting, as well financial reporting and accounting.
At Taurus, Fealey had a wide range of responsibilities, including directing the operations and finances for a portfolio of entities in excess of $80 million, as well as managing capital budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and credit acquisitions. Prior to his role at Taurus, he worked in commercial real estate and in corporate law.
“The hiring committee believed that Ryan stood out among the more than 50 applicants who applied for this position,” said Dr. Lucero. “Upon meeting him, I could see how his broad private sector financial experience could be an asset in helping us develop new and innovative ideas to control costs while still providing our students a quality educational experience.”
Fealey holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass., a Master of Arts from John Jay College in New York City, and a Master of Business Administration, with an Advanced Certificate in Financial Management, from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He is also a CFA® charter holder and a certified Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) professional. He is a Stamford resident and an active member of the Westover Elementary School community, where two of his three children currently attend school.
