Davenport Brings the Music Outside
Congratulations to the Davenport Ridge Fifth Grade Chorus under the direction of Mr. Frank Merendino, music teacher. Davenport’s fifth graders came together to perform at the first ever outdoor winter mini-concert at the school. The event was a hit and brought the school community together to celebrate one another, the holidays and Davenport. A special thank you to the Davenport Ridge PTO for their ongoing support, Ms. Nancy Boccuzzi, Mr. James Darling and Mr. Graham Leftwich for helping with the sound system on short notice. Davenport is excited to SOAR into 2022!
Stamford High Roundtable Earns Recognition
The Stamford High School student publication, The Round Table (shsroundtable.com), will be recognized with a prestigious Crown Award at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 98th annual Scholastic Convention being held later this spring. During a virtual convocation being held in March, the SHS publication will be presented with either a Gold or Silver Crown Award. The award to the student staff indicates that the publication they produced ranks among the best in student journalism. Congratulations to the Round Table faculty advisor, Jonathan Ringel, and your talented team of students!
As COVID cases are on the rise, someone rises up at the Hill
A special shout-out to Juan Pazmino, Dean of Students at Westhill High School, who keeps our school functioning by making sure all classes are covered every day...especially in this time of COVID-related upheaval!
Hart Magnet Giving Tree
The Hart Magnet Giving Tree was created so that 38 of our students would receive gifts this holiday season. Our amazing staff and PTO quickly signed up to give these students a gift from their very own wish list. Our incredible community was able to fulfill all of these wishes by donating items such as drones, board games, clothing, slime kits and even a bike! Thank you to the Hart Magnet community for demonstrating such wonderful productive habits of Heart!
Supporting Tornado Relief Fund
In response to the devastation and destruction caused by the tornados in our southern and midwest states, Hart Magnet 5th grade students sponsored a Funny Winter/Holiday Day! On Tuesday, Dec. 21 students and staff were asked to wear their favorite holiday hat, sweater, headbands or pajamas. In addition, they were asked to make a donation of any amount to help support the victims of the tornados. The 5th grade students created signs, made morning announcements and visited classrooms to inform everyone of the event. Hart School families were also a part of the service project and the Hart PTO helped spread the word to all the families. We are thrilled to announce that we have collected a generous amount of money which was given directly to the Salvation Army Disaster Fund. The Hart 5th grade students are filled with the spirit of giving this year!!!
What is an SPS Shout Out?
An SPS Shout Out is a special recognition that acknowledges school communities, staff members or students who have inspired us with a unique project, an outstanding job or a special effort that had a positive impact on our students or community. Each week we will celebrate a few by sharing with all SPS staff and posting on the district website. Please share any or all of these with your friends and families.
SPS Administrators can submit Shout Outs for consideration through the form shared with them in the Administrators’ Weekly.
