I hope this message finds you and your family and friends well. It is hard to believe that we are only a few short weeks away from the reopening of schools. Late last week, I shared the Executive Overview of the Stamford Public Schools (SPS) 2020-2021 Reopening Plan.
Today, I am proud to share with you the comprehensive SPS 2020-2021 Reopening Plan, which provides additional details and information for each area of the plan. The Spanish translation of this plan will be available later this week.
You will notice I am not calling this our final plan, as it will continue to be a working document. As we have shared from the very beginning of this COVID-19 Pandemic, circumstances change rapidly, and we may need to revise our plan as updated information and guidance is received from state and local health care professionals. The goal is for the plan to serve as a reference document providing guidance in as much detail as possible to help ensure a safe and smooth transition into the school year, while still allowing us the flexibility to change our approach at a moment’s notice. The most up-to-date version of the plan will be available on the district website.
You should know that we will soon be collecting more specific information to assist in planning for our Hybrid In-Person Model, which includes the option for students to participate in a Distance Teaching and Learning Academy Model, if requested. Later this week, we will send a Return to Learn Reopening Form to all families. The form will allow us to get a better sense of your plans and requirements for the coming year. Please be certain to respond to the request promptly. If you have any questions regarding the learning models or the Return to Learn form, please reach out to your student’s school.
Additionally, on Monday, August 17, we will host a Parent Pop-Up Webinar to provide you with an opportunity to ask clarifying questions about the plan and school reopening. Please feel free to submit questions in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will also answer questions live in the chat. If you are unable to attend the live session, the Parent Pop-Up Webinar will be recorded and posted to our district website for future viewing.
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer,
Dr. Lucero, Superintendent Stamford Public Schools
