Transportation/Bus Information

Where do I get my student’s bus information?

  • SPS continues to encourage families to drop off and pick up students to allow for additional distancing on school buses. As noted, masks are required on all school buses. As recommended by DPH, students will have assigned seats to the greatest extent possible and windows will be open to assist with ventilation.
  • If your student requires a bus, you can obtain that information through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, from your child’s school or on the Transportation page of the district website.  If you do not have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you should create one at

Are there special rules for bus riding?

All students and drivers are required to wear a mask on the school bus. On the rare occasion that a child forgets their mask, the bus driver will provide one to the student. Students will have assigned seats and, to the greatest extent possible, load the bus from back to front (first students boarding sit in back rows) and unload from front to back (students in front rows exit first).Exception: Kindergarteners will sit in the first 2 rows of the bus. If you are missing information or have a question on a bus assignment, contact SPS Transportation at

How will buses be cleaned each day?

Following guidance from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, we are currently conducting deep cleaning of our bus fleet during the summer months.  Once school reopens, buses will be cleaned with EPA approved chemicals to include spraying and wiping down of high touch areas between tiered routes.  A deep cleaning will occur at the end of each day.

Will there be special procedures for special education students utilizing SPS provided transportation?

Students that are assigned special education transportation will follow the same health and safety protocols established for general education transportation.
