Acceptances & Waitlists

All families that apply to the magnet school lottery will receive notification of the lottery results.

Lottery Notification

  • All families will receive an email within one week of the lottery drawing. The email is sent to the email address provided on the lottery application.
  • Emails will indicate whether your child:
    • Received a magnet school invitation, or
    • Was placed on a wait list (with a wait list number included).

Accepting a Magnet School Invitation

If your child was offered a seat at a magnet school:

  • Families have three weeks from the date of the initial lottery drawing in February to:
    • Accept the magnet school invitation online, and
    • Register with Stamford Public Schools (new students only). Families that accepted a magnet school seat will receive a unique registration code via email to use during student registration.
  • If you do not accept and register by the deadline, the seat will be moved to the end of the wait list.
  • If you accept the offered seat, your child’s name will be taken off the wait list(s) for the other schools to which you may have applied.
  • If your child turns 5 years old between September 2, 2021 and January 1, 2022, they will be required to complete an early kindergarten admission assessment. Information about the assessment will be provided in early 2026.

Wait list Process

If your child was not offered a seat in a magnet school, your child will be placed on a wait list.

  • There are multiple wait lists for each school. Wait lists remain active until December 1.
  • Should your child qualify for an open seat, you will receive a wait list invitation via email to the address provided on the application.
  • Parents have five school days to respond to wait list invitations.
    • If no response is received, the offer will move to the next student on the list.
