Stamford Public Schools announces Winners of annual Seasonal Greeting Card Content
Superintendent and Mayor Celebrated Student Artists before Tree Lighting
Yesterday, six Stamford Public Schools high school students were recognized for their artwork as part of the District’s annual Seasonal Greeting Card Contest. The students were commended and received certificates and gift cards from Superintendent Lucero and Mayor Simmons during an event held in the Government Center Lobby in conjunction with the Mayor’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year’s program was open to Stamford Public Schools high school students from AITE, Westhill, and Stamford High. Students worked with their art teachers to create seasonal designs in any medium, which were then submitted for consideration. Mayor Caroline Simmons and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tamu Lucero each selected a first place, second place and honorable mention. The winning designs will be printed as cards for Mayor Simmons and Dr. Lucero to use during the holiday season.
The Seasonal Greeting Card Contest has been a Stamford tradition for more than 25 years. The program is currently managed by Robin Konrad, Department Leader for Visual and Performing Arts at Westhill High School and the Stamford Public Schools Content Area Leader for K-12 Visual Arts.
