Keriann Maxelix Named Principal of Westover K-8 Magnet School

The Stamford Board of Education voted Tuesday evening to approve the appointment of Keriann Maxelix as the permanent Principal of Westover K-8 Magnet School, effective immediately.
"Keriann has earned the confidence of the Westover community through her steady leadership, deep instructional expertise, and unwavering commitment to students and families,” said Adrian B. Talley, Ed.D., Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools. “Throughout her tenure at Westover, she has demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships, support teachers, and foster a positive learning environment where students can thrive. I look forward to partnering with her and the entire Westover administrative team as we work to ensure that every Westover student has the support they need to succeed.”
Maxelix was named Interim Principal at Westover for the 2025-26 school year after serving as Assistant Principal since 2016. She began her tenure with Stamford Public Schools as a Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI) Instructional Support Teacher at Springdale Elementary in 2013. She also has served as a Curriculum Associate for Data Monitoring (K–12) and on the district’s K-5 Literacy Professional Development Team.
Maxelix earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a dual Special Education/Elementary Education Certification from Marymount Manhattan College. She earned a Master of Science in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University, with a concentration in both Autism Spectrum Disorders and Learning Disabilities. She earned a Sixth-Year Diploma in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Bridgeport.
She is certified by the Connecticut State Department of Education in Prek-6 Elementary (013); K–12 Special Education: Comprehensive (165) and Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092).
Maxelix was recognized with a 2016 Spotlight on Teachers Award for her work in developing and implementing the framework for the district’s Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI) Instructional Support Program.
