Financial Literacy Lab at Stamford High: A Community Collaboration for Financial Literacy

Stamford High School, an International Baccalaureate School

Stamford Public Schools is proud to share that a new Financial Literacy Lab is now operating at Stamford High School. The lab, which was recently revealed during a private ceremony with students, educators, and community partners, supports financial education and student empowerment. This project was  envisioned by SPS teachers through a partnership with CT Financial Scholars and Synchrony Bank. The lab serves as an immersive environment designed to help equip students with financial fluency and the practical money management skills they need for the future.

“Access to relevant and engaging lessons are key to an effective financial education,” said Dorothea Mackey, Department Leader Career and Technology Education, Stamford High School. “Our partnership with Synchrony and CT Financial Scholars will help demystify the world of money and guide our students toward financial self-efficacy.”

The new Financial Literacy Lab is part of Synchrony Bank’s longstanding philanthropic initiative, Education as an Equalizer, which expands access to education, skills training, and financial literacy in communities. The mission of CT Financial Scholars is to provide high school students, teachers, and families with the tools needed to develop financial skills, build greater wealth, and achieve financial empowerment.
