What You Can Do

Parents, Guardians and Families can have a huge impact on student attendance. Please be sure to:

  • Make sure you update your contact information including current address, phone number and email address in the Parent Portal your child’s school can reach you when in need.
  • Know when you should keep your child home due to illness. The key indicators to keep your child home are as follows: 1) has a fever of 100.4 or greater, 2) is vomiting, 3) has diarrhea. Your child should return to school when they are fever free and/or symptom free for at least 24 hours.
  • Support your child(ren) with establishing morning and evening routines that best prepare them for school everyday.
  • Understand the importance of consistent attendance during the school year. This includes understanding the detrimental effects of taking extended leaves for vacation while school is in session.
  • If you child must stay home from school, report the absence to your child’s school. Refer to last page of this document  to access a list of point people to contact at each school.
  • Use our community’s Youth Mental Health Resource Guide if you need assistance finding support for a number of areas including, but not limited to: outpatient counseling & treatment, inpatient treatment, addiction services, crisis intervention.
