Dr. Lucero in front of a white board.

Dear Staff and Families,

We want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The Connecticut State Department of Education shared the following resources for families and educators, please feel free to click here to access music, podcasts, and other resources.

Master Staffing Plan

Next week we begin our visits to schools for our Master Staffing Plan.  The goal is to request feedback from teachers and staff related to the academic, mental health, facilities, intervention, support, and other staffing needs.

We look forward to visiting all building staff.  Please note that we are also in the process of planning similar sessions with departments, families, and community members – stay tuned.

Connecting our Community through Conversations

Connecting our communities through conversation sessions that were introduced last spring are scheduled to begin for staff, families, and community members in the month of October.  In partnership with PT Council, Stamford Education Association, and Cradle-to-Career, we will host opportunities for staff, family, and community voices and opportunities to listen.  Please plan to join us for this wonderful opportunity to engage.  More information will follow.

Information Session – School Lunch

Thank you to our partners at Stamford Cradle-to-Career for hosting the upcoming Information Session on school food in Stamford.  SPS has been approved to provide FREE healthy breakfasts and lunches to all students during the 2022-23 school year by choosing to participate in the Community Eligibility Program.  The meeting is informational in nature and will share how, when we work together as a Stamford community, we can continue to make sure all SPS scholars who need them have access to free meals!

Making a Difference at Northeast

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of visiting Northeast during my daily school visits.  I want to take a moment to thank the Northeast PFO for adding a donated book selection component to their book fair, which allows all students to walk away with a book to call their own.  I understand that other schools are implementing opportunities for our students, which is really making a difference.

During my visit to Northeast, I also was able to watch the athletic abilities and musical talents of our fourth grade students.  I learned the rules of a new football activity and listened to a song on the recorder that teaches students to practice the notes A and G.  Thank you Mr. Piechowicz and Mr. Barbour for letting me join your learning environment.

Please join me in celebrating Security Guard Appreciation Week!  We are thankful for all you do to keep us safe and secure.

Stay Safe and Healthy!
