Weekly Message from the Superintendent

WeeklyMessageicon

Dear Families and Staff,

I want to take a moment to thank the members of the Stamford community who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. We are grateful for your service to our country.  I also want to thank all of our schools that hosted events celebrating our local veterans this week. These programs and assemblies are just one of many ways we thank our veterans for their service.

Please join the SPS community for the annual Stamford Veterans Day Parade on Sunday, November 10 at 12 pm. I will be there along with many of our school marching bands, music teachers, and administrators. The parade begins at Stamford Police Headquarters and travels down Bedford Street to Veterans Memorial Park. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to show our veterans how much we appreciate them.

Marching bands and performance groups from the following schools will be participating in this year’s parade: Davenport Elementary; Newfield Elementary; Northeast Elementary; Rippowam Middle School; Rogers International K-8; Scofield Middle School; Springdale Elementary; Westhill High School (Marching Band and the JROTC Drill Team).

AITE Information Session is Saturday at 9:30 am

If your child is interested in applying to AITE for high school, be sure to attend the information session tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9:30 am. If you cannot attend tomorrow, there will be another session on Thursday, December 5 at 6 pm.

Filling in the Blanks Mobile Food Pantry

A quick correction from last week. The Filling in the Blanks Mobile Food Pantry will continue to be in Stamford on the third Saturday of each month. That means the mobile pantry will be in the parking lot behind Cloonan Middle School on Saturday, November 16.

No School on Monday

Finally, a quick reminder that schools are closed on Monday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you again to those in our community who served as a member of the United States Armed Forces. We are grateful for your service.
