Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear Families and Staff,
Last weekend, John and I had a fun-filled weekend that began with the Hindi USA Diwali Celebration at Stamford High School. What a great opportunity for students to showcase their cultural dancing talent. The performances were simply amazing.
On Saturday morning, we joined Filling in the Blanks to volunteer at their inaugural mobile food pantry event in Bridgeport. Our wonderful partners at Filling in the Blanks are expanding their outreach to the food insecure by adding a monthly mobile food pantry in Bridgeport. Following is the updated Filling in the Blanks mobile food pantry schedule; please note the change for Stamford.
- 1st Saturday of the month: Norwalk
- 2nd Saturday of the month: Stamford
- 3rd Saturday of the month: Bridgeport
Finally, on Saturday afternoon we joined the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) for their Haunted Halloween Book Giveaway in partnership with the Ferguson Library. Not only did students get free books, they also enjoyed storytime with guest readers including Mayor Simmons, BOE Member Antonia Better-Wirz, APPLES PreK Director Kendra Brown, Westover Principal Lisa Saba-Price, Newfield Assistant Principal Randy Bilik, and me.
Thank you to our community organizations for hosting events that engage, support and care for SPS students.

Macbeth Opens November 8
Stamford High School’s Strawberry Hill Players will present one of Shakespeare’s most gripping tragedies—Macbeth—on November 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30 pm in the Stamford High School Auditorium. This production, which is an adaptation of the classic play, tells the story of Macbeth with a goth/punk/grunge aesthetic.
