Weekly Message from the Superintendent

WeeklyMessageicon

Dear SPS Community:

Last night, I was honored to join members of the district’s senior leadership team, Stamford Education Association President John Corcoran, and Paraeducator Union President Elyse Pastore at an event celebrating the 2025 Teacher of the Year Cohort, 2025 SPS Spotlight Award Winners, and the 2025 Paraeducator of the Year and runners up. As Superintendent, this annual event is one of the highlights of my year, as it is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the very best of the best in our school district. I would like to thank the teacher and paraeducator committees that dedicated many hours to the nomination and selection process as well as Director of Talent Recruitment and Retention, Charmaine Tourse, for supporting the committees and organizing last night’s event.

As Teacher Appreciation Week draws to a close, I want to once again acknowledge all of our teachers for the many ways in which they inspire, guide, and empower our students every single day. From the engaging lessons that spark curiosity in our classrooms, to ensuring our buildings are safe spaces for learning, and to providing essential support that uplifts our students and families, you make our district a truly special place. On behalf of the Board of Education and the senior leadership team, thank you for everything you do on behalf of our 16,000+ students.
