Dear SPS Community:

Last night, I had the privilege of attending the SPS Adult & Continuing Education graduation ceremony at UCONN Stamford. More than 70 individuals were honored for earning their high school diploma, completing the ESL program, or earning United States Citizenship.

With just two weeks until the last day of school, I’d like to remind everyone of the dates for moving up and graduation ceremonies:

  • Tuesday, June 10: Hart, K.T. Murphy, Northeast, and Toquam
  • Wednesday, June 11: Davenport Ridge, Julia A. Stark, Newfield, Rogers (Grades 4 & 8), Roxbury, Springdale, Strawberry Hill (Grade 4), Stillmeadow, Westover, and SPS Anchor Graduation
  • Thursday, June 12: AITE - 2 pm, Stamford High - 2 pm, and Westhill - 4 pm
  • Friday, June 13: Cloonan, Dolan, Rippowam, Scofield, Strawberry Hill (Grade 8), and Turn of River

SCOPES Meeting is June 4

SCOPES will host its final meeting of the school year on Wednesday, June 4 at 6 pm at the SPS Welcome Center at Cloonan. During this meeting, representatives from the Special Education and Related Services Team will present information about 2025-26 special education programs and summer resources for families. This meeting will be presented with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and Haitian-Creole. Click here to register for this meeting.

Kindergarten Registration Event on June 7

The Office of Family & Community Engagement is hosting a Kindergarten Registration Event on Saturday, June 7 from 10 am to 1 pm at the SPS Welcome Center. Language support will be available for Spanish and Haitian-Creole speakers. Please attend if you need assistance and bring the following with you:

  2. Child’s birth certificate or other official documentation proving child's age and name of parents
  3. Proof of address (2 forms)

Returning Borrowed Items to School

Please take some time to check around your home for books, chromebooks, power cords, musical instruments, sports equipment, and other SPS property that must be returned to school. Items should be returned in good condition and in working order to avoid fees for lost or damaged items. Please return any items to school as soon as possible. Waiting until the last day of school creates extra work for our staff and may result in your family being charged a missing items fee.

End of Year Safety Reminders

The last two weeks of the school year include many family events on school grounds. Please help us maintain a safe and secure school environment by following all safety protocols when visiting your child’s school. All visitors—including parents—are required to check in and check out of school buildings and to wear a visitors badge at all times. Have fun and stay safe.

Nearly 300 SPS Students Earn Seal of Biliteracy

Congratulations to the 297 high school students who earned the Seal of Biliteracy this year, including 169 members of the Class of 2025. To earn this designation, students must demonstrate that they can read, write, speak, and understand a second world language in addition to English. Our students achieved the Seal of Biliteracy in 18 different languages. Seven students qualified for the Seal of Biliteracy in 2 languages other than English, while one student qualified in 3 languages other than English.

Class of 2025 College Plans

The school counselors at AITE, Stamford High, and Westhill are using Instagram to share the college plans of students in the Class of 2025. Participation in these Instagram pages is voluntary, but more than 400 students have shared their plans so far! It’s wonderful to see the many colleges and universities our students will attend and the varied courses of study they plan to pursue.

If you're on Instagram, I encourage you to follow aitefutures2025, stamfordhighcolleges2025 and 2025whscolleges to learn more about the Stamford Public Schools Class of 2025.

Stay Safe and Healthy!
