Congrats to Stamford High’s Early College Studies Graduates!

Congratulations to the following Stamford High School (SHS) seniors who were awarded associate’s degrees from CT State Norwalk earlier this week through the Early College Studies (ECS) program at SHS: Alfred Gascon, Ritchie Jara, Shashank Peela, Alec Stark, and Nicholas Sutin.

Through the ECS Program, these students earned associate's degrees in computer science while also completing their high school graduation requirements at SHS. The ECS program began with a single cohort of 40 freshmen in fall 2017 and this school year includes 141 students in grades 9-12. The program has graduated 20 students with associate’s degrees since 2021, and more than 200 ECS students have graduated from SHS with college credits toward their associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science-related fields.

Colonial Day at the Stamford History Center is Tuesday, June 16

Families of students in grades K-5 are invited to attend Colonial Day on Tuesday, June 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Stamford History Center. This event, which takes place on an early release day from school, will feature an immersive experience of what life was like in Stamford during Colonial Times. The event will feature historic demonstrations, traditional games, arts and crafts, and music, all centered around the historic Hoyt-Barnum House, which was built around 1699 and is the oldest home in Stamford. SPS students study Samuel Hoyt during elementary school, making Colonial Day a wonderful extension of their school-based lessons about Colonial America. The cost is $20 per family and you can register to attend here

No School Monday; Early Release Wednesday

As a reminder, Stamford Public Schools will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.  In addition, students will follow the early release schedule on Wednesday, May 27 for staff professional development.
