Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear SPS Community:
We are excited to share the dates for high school graduation and middle school moving up ceremonies, which are as follows:
- AITE Graduation: Thursday, June 12 at 2 pm
- Stamford High School Graduation: Thursday, June 12 at 2 pm
- Westhill High School Graduation: Thursday, June 12 at 4 pm
- Middle School (8th Grade) Moving Up Ceremonies: Friday, June 13 (times vary by school)
- Elementary School Moving Up Ceremonies: TBA
By state law, high school graduation must take place on or after the 180th day of school, which this year is June 12. Graduation ceremonies are scheduled so as not to conflict with dismissal of students in grades 9-11, and the ceremony times are also coordinated in consultation with the school principals, the City of Stamford, and the Stamford Police Department. The rain date for all three high school graduations will be Friday, June 13.
Middle school principals will share moving up ceremony times and locations directly with their school communities, while elementary school principals will share moving up ceremony dates, times, and locations with their staff and families once confirmed.
Paraprofessional Appreciation Day
Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is Wednesday, April 2. Please join me in recognizing the more than 400 incredible paraprofessionals who support our students in PreK through 12th Grade. As anyone who has visited our schools can tell you, paraprofessionals play an integral role in supporting both our students and educators. Thank you, paraprofessionals, for all you do!
AITE Drama Club Presents “Until Death Do Us Part”
The AITE Drama Club will present the play “Until Death Do Us Part” on Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4 at 7 pm in the AITE Media Center. Tickets are $15 each at the door. Please show your support for our students and the arts by attending this show!
SHS Boys Lacrosse Fundraiser for Autism Speaks
April is World Autism Month, and the Stamford High School Boys Lacrosse Team will be fundraising to support international nonprofit Autism Speaks during their home opener vs. Brookfield on Saturday, April 12 at 12 pm at Boyle Stadium. You can make a donation at the game or go to the SHS Boys Lacrosse Team’s Autism Speaks GoFundMe page to donate now. Thank you to Boys Lacrosse Coach Mike Nazarro for helping our students develop not only their athletic skills, but also their sense of sportsmanship and kindness!
