Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear SPS Community:
We are excited to announce that Stamford Public Schools will launch ParentSquare as the district’s school-family communications platform beginning with the 2026-27 school year, replacing both Remind and SchoolMessenger.
ParentSquare acquired Remind in 2023, and since then districts across the country have transitioned to the ParentSquare platform, which enables families to receive and view all school and classroom messages in one place and in their preferred language.
With ParentSquare, families will be able to do the following in their preferred language:
- Stay up to date on news and events
- Send and receive messages with teachers and staff
- View district and individual school calendars
- Fill out forms and permission slips
- Sign up for conferences and volunteer opportunities
SchoolMessenger will be discontinued on June 30, at which point all outbound communications from the district and individual schools will originate from ParentSquare. Remind will be discontinued in September.
ParentSquare accounts have been created for all SPS parents who have an email address on file in PowerSchool. Instructions for activating ParentSquare accounts will be sent to families next week. Even if families do not activate their accounts before July 1, they will continue to receive all emails, text messages, and robocalls from their schools and the district.
Café con la Super is Monday, June 15
Join us for the final Café con la Super of the 2025-26 school year when we share practical tips and strategies to keep your children safe this summer. Participating organizations will include Stamford Downtown, Domus, City of Stamford Parks and Recreation, and the Stamford Police Department.
In addition, representatives from the Stamford Big Picture Learning Academy Charter School will give a brief presentation about their school that is currently enrolling students entering grades 9-11 in 2026-27.
Meetings are presented in Spanish with simultaneous English translation. The SPS Welcome Center is located at 11 W. North Street in Cloonan Middle School. Click here to register.
44 Students Complete PLTW Pathways at AITE
Congratulations to the 44 AITE Students in the Class of 2026 who completed a Project Lead the Way Pathway in either Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, or Engineering. The majority of these students plan to major in a STEM-related field in college, underscoring the value of the PLTW program’s hands-on, project-based, career-connected learning. Congratulations to these remarkable students!
30 Students Complete Academy of Finance Program at Westhill
Congratulations are also in order for the 30 Westhill High School Seniors who completed the intradistrict Academy of Finance program. The Academy of Finance prepares high school students to pursue college degrees in business-related fields, emphasizing project-based learning and real-world work experiences while helping students develop the “soft skills” increasingly desired by employers. The Academy of Finance has been offered at Westhill since 2002 through a partnership between the National Academy Foundation and Stamford Public Schools.
