Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear SPS Community:
As we continue preparing for the 2025-26 school year, please be advised that PowerSchool will be offline for maintenance beginning today—Friday, August 8. While PowerSchool is offline, our technology and research teams will prepare PowerSchool for the “rollover” to the 2025-26 school year, which happens annually at the conclusion of summer school. PowerSchool is tentatively scheduled to be back online on Friday, August 15. When PowerSchool comes back online, parents will see that their child’s school and grade have been updated for the 2025-26 school year.
Please note, teacher assignments (elementary) and schedules with teacher assignments (secondary) will be available in PowerSchool on Wednesday, August 20 by 6 pm. Bus assignments will be available in PowerSchool beginning on Friday, August 22 at 5 pm.
New BOE Website
The Stamford Board of Education has a new website where the community can access meeting schedules, agendas, videos and other publicly-available BOE documents and materials. The new website—powered by Diligent Community—has replaced BoardDocs as the Stamford BOE website platform. The Stamford BOE on Diligent Community may be accessed from the BOE section of the SPS Website or directly at https://stamford-public-schools.community.highbond.com/portal/.
As part of the transition to Diligent Community, community members who wish to address the BOE during its monthly regular meeting must now complete this form on the BOE Website. Click here to learn more.
Kindergarten Registration Event on August 16
The Office of Family & Community Engagement will host its final 2025-26 Kindergarten Registration Event on Saturday, August 16 from 10 am to 1 pm at the SPS Welcome Center. Language support will be available for Spanish and Haitian-Creole speakers. Please attend if you need assistance with registration. For more information, click here or email OFCE@stamfordps.org.
Complete the Household Income Survey
All families are encouraged to complete the 2025-26 Household Income Survey Form (English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Ukrainian). Completing the Household Income Survey will determine whether your family qualifies for reduced fees for camps and after-school programs, college application fee waivers, SAT and AP exam fee waivers, and more. Completing the form also helps us gather socio-economic information that can help SPS qualify for certain governmental and private grants.
All information provided is kept confidential. If your household does not fall within the income guidelines on the form, you do not need to complete the application.
Please note, SPS is participating in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for the 2025-26 school year, which means all students may receive school breakfast and lunch at no cost to families and without completing any paperwork. The CEP is part of the federally funded National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.
Filling in the Blanks Weekend Meal Bag Registration
Our partners at Filling in the Blanks asked us to share that registration is now open for the 2025-26 Weekend Meal Bag program. The Filling in the Blanks Weekend Meal Bag Program provides nutritious weekend meals for qualifying students at all Stamford Public Schools.
Families may register online here. For questions or to receive assistance completing the application, contact Filling in the Blanks at 203.750.0019.
Stay Safe and Healthy!
Dr. Tamu Lucero
