Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear SPS Community:
Thank you to the members of the Board of Education (BOE), Board of Finance (BOF), and Board of Representatives (BOR) who listened to our FY26 operating budget presentations over the last three months. City Board members are all volunteers who dedicate many hours to the City of Stamford, especially during budget season, and we appreciate the time they spend each year considering our budget request.
The BOF will vote on the FY26 City of Stamford and SPS operating budgets during a special meeting on Wednesday, April 16 at 7 pm via Zoom (Webinar ID: 822 1399 4865). The BOF can approve the BOE’s proposed budget as submitted or make cuts. Similarly, the BOR will vote on the FY26 Budget during a special meeting on Thursday, May 1 at 8 pm. The BOR can approve the budget as submitted by the BOF or make additional cuts.
The outcome of the BOF and BOR budget votes will determine what programs, services, and staff positions, if any, will be eliminated during budget reconciliation in May.
