Weekly Message from the Superintendent
Dear SPS Community:
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and that you’ve taken time to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. It’s hard to believe that August is upon us and that the first day of school is less than four weeks away.
Over the next few weeks, the District and the individual schools will be sharing a great deal of important information with families. I urge you to read all emails from the District and your child(ren)’s schools carefully. These messages will include the information you need to ensure that your family makes a smooth transition to the new school year.
2025-26 SPS Family Guide
The 2025-26 SPS Family Guide is now available. Families may view and download the guide in English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, and Ukrainian. Please take time now to review the Family Guide which contains important information about Stamford Public Schools.
2025-26 Parent-Teacher Conference Dates
Stamford Public Schools has modified the parent-teacher conference dates for 2025-26. These changes were made in collaboration with the unions representing Stamford’s teachers and school administrators.
The updated 2025-26 SPS Calendar is now available to download in English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole and Ukrainian. As always, you can also access the calendar on our website.
2025-26 Bus Transportation Deadlines
Bus routes are created annually using current enrollment data and the home addresses provided by families. To help ensure accurate bus routes for the first week of school, our Transportation Department is asking families to meet the following deadlines for address changes and new student registration:
-
If you recently moved within Stamford please contact your child’s 2024-2025 school by Friday, August 8 to update your address.
-
If you have a student starting kindergarten or transferring into SPS from outside the district, please register by Wednesday, August 13.
Bus assignments will be posted in PowerSchool on Friday, August 22.
Annual Physicals REQUIRED for Grades K, 7, and 10
Connecticut State law requires all students to meet certain health requirements for school attendance. Annual physicals are required for students entering Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 10th Grade.
Families of students entering Kindergarten, 7th Grade and 10th Grade must provide the school nurse with a completed State of CT Health Assessment & Immunization Record (English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Ukrainian) showing proof of a recent physical examination completed by a licensed medical professional and up-to-date immunizations.
Failure to provide this documentation will result in your child being denied entry to school.
If your child does not have a healthcare provider they see regularly, click here for a list of providers that offer school entry physicals.
