Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announces Stamford High School (SHS) rising senior James Pease was recently selected to participate in the Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program. Pease is among 200 students chosen nationally and is one of only five from this area chosen for the program this summer.
According to the organization, the program connects community-minded students to employment, skills development and service. Since its inception in 2005, Student Leaders Program has recognized more than 2,200 high school juniors and seniors who have passion for improving their community.
Each selected student is assigned a paid 35-hour-a-week summer internship at a local nonprofit. Pease has been matched with the Stamford Boys and Girls Club for his internship.
In July all Student Leaders will attend in a week-long, all-expense paid Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. This year’s summit will focus on building a more inclusive society and pathways to leadership.
